Graduate Students
Dr. Thahani Sifna earned her B.S. in Chemistry with minors in Biology, Zoology and Molecular Biology from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka in 2014. She was awarded her Ph.D. from Loyola in 2021 and is currently a post-doc in the lab of Professor Richard Silverman at Northwestern.
Dr. Cory Reidl earned his B.S. in Chemistry with Cum Laude honors at Quincy University. He defended his Ph.D. thesis in 2017, then joined the laboratory of Professor Richard Silverman at Northwestern University. In 2021, Dr. Reidl is presently a Scientist in Chemistry in Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD).
Dr. Andria Panagopoulos earned her B.S. in Chemistry, her M.S. in Chemistry, and ultimately defended her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2010 from Loyola University Chicago. She then completed a post-doc at Northwestern University, followed by a post-doc at Oak Ridge National Laboratories in Tennessee. Dr. Panagopoulos is presently a Senior Manager in Quality, Design, Risk, Post-Market Surveillance at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Chicago.
Dr. Tahirah Heath earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Clark Atlanta University. She defended her Ph.D thesis with Distinction in 2018. Dr. Heath is presently a Senior Scientist in Process Development at MilliporeSigma in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dr. Marlon Lutz earned his B.S. in Chemistry at Loyola University Chicago, then went on to earn his M.S. in Chemistry with Honors in Organic Chemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry. Dr. Lutz earned his Ph.D. with Distinction in 2018 also from Loyola in the areas of Organic Process Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Flow Chemistry, and Supramolecular Chemistry. Dr. Lutz is currently employed as a Process Chemist in Biosynthetic Technologies with the Heritage Group in Indianapolis, and previously he worked as a Process Development Chemist at Regis Technologies in Morton Grove.
Dr. Samuel Sarsah earned his B.S in Chemistry at the University of Ghana, then earned his M.S. in Chemistry at Emporia State University in Kansas. Dr. Sarsah defended his Ph.D. at Loyola University Chicago in 2013, then worked as an industrial post-doc at Johnson Wax from 2013-2015. He then joined Star Thermoplastic as a Research Scientist.
Undergraduates
Katie Jane Torma earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2020, and she is presently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan.
Michael Serwetnyk earned his B.S. in Biochemistry at Loyola in 2019, and he is presently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Notre Dame working with Professor Brian Blagg.
Estefany Guzman earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2018. She then earned her M.S. in Biochemistry at Johns Hopkins University, and is presently a Ph.D. student at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Peter Thoresen earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2017. He currently working and applying to medical schools.
Yasmine Payne earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2018 and she is presently attending medical school at Rush University in Chicago.
Rachel Torrez earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2017, and is presently a Chemistry Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan with Dr. Amanda Garner and Dr. Melanie Ohi in Structural Biology.
Raymond Godlewski Jr earned his B.S. in Chemistry in 2017 and is currently a Quality Assurance Associate II at Biogen in Apex, North Carolina.
Donna Gawron earned her B.S. in Chemistry in 2016 from Loyola. Donna is a Physician Assistant student at Marquette University in Wisconsin.
Isaac Schwarz earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2020, and he is presently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Southern California (USC).
Ademilola Tejuoso earned her B.S. in Biochemistry at Loyola in 2019, and she is currently attending medical school at the University of Louisville.
Claire Herbert earned her B.S. in Chemistry at Loyola in 2019. She is presently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California at Irvine.
Denis Cipurko worked in collaboration with the lab of Dr. Dali Liu. Graduated with a B.S. in biochemistry from Loyola in 2019. He is currently enrolled in the M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Chicago.
Yuliya Politanska earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2017. She is presently working as a biochemist at Northwestern University and is applying to graduate schools in Biochemistry.
Iman Darwish earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Loyola in 2018, and she is currently attending Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine.
Jake Dudzinski earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from Loyola in 2017 and is currently attending medical school at Saint Louis University.
Max Moore earned his B.S. in Biochemistry at Loyola in 2017, and is presently a Ph.D. candidate at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA with Professor Dale Boger.
Kaitlyn Lovato graduated with her B.S. in Chemistry in 2016 from Loyola and is presently a Ph.D. candidate at Rice University with Dr. Laszlo Kurti. She is a recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship.
